LAP-2006 is the third biannual conference in a topical series, providing an interdisciplinary forum on the use of lasers in probing materials and the study of laser-matter interactions. The conference will be held at the Vienna University of Technology in Vienna, Austria from September 11-15, 2006. The two previous, very successfull meetings were held in Leuven, Belgium and Argonne, Il., USA. The year-long celebrations of Mozart´s 250 birth day in 2006 should be another attraction to visit Vienna.
Meetings of interest for many participants will be held before and after LAP 2006. This should faciliate the possibility for participants from overseas to combine a participation of related meetings: PITSA 10 will be held from September 6-8 in Germany and IISC-16 from September 17-22 near Vienna.
LAP-2006 serves as an interdisciplinary forum for experimental and theoretical research on

solid, fluid and gaseous materials
large particles including aerosols
nanoparticles and clusters
molecules, atoms and atomic nuclei
in research areas such as
analytics and characterization of materials
optical spectroscopy
reaction chemistry and ultrafast phenomena
structural properties of atoms, particles and nuclei
laser ablation
involving laser-based methods
including established and new techniques, e.g.,
resonance ionization spectroscopy
(resonance enhanced) multiphoton ionization
photoelectron spectroscopy
laser ablation and desorption
matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization
laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy
coherent control and optimization of laserpulses
other laser-based techniques
