Abstract

The proposed project aims to the development of a multi-channel system for monitoring and control based on resonant piezoelectric crystal sensors (QxSens). Novel resonant sensors are used for the determination of various physical measurement quantities of technical importance.

The advantages of these sensors are high precision, high sensitivity and dynamic range, independence from strong electric and magnetic fields, and a frequency output signal ideally suitable for digital processing.

The universally applicable QxSens system offers temperature control, measurement of viscosity, density, and speed of sound in industrial processes of all kinds and therefore can contribute to a higher quality of many products. The benefits for product quality enhancement will be demonstrated in lyophilization of food, characterization of fuels, lubricant and hydraulic oils, and rayon fibre process control.
